Welcome

This guide is designed to help you with your first weeks of study at the University and hopefully set you up to successfully tackle your first assignments. It will give you pointers on how to get the most out of the University's library - you'll find advice, tips, links and learning activities in these pages, aiming to give you the basic skills in finding and using our library resources.

It will be especially useful to you if you're a new student. The guide will remain here for you to come back to and dip into whenever you need it. Hopefully it will help you to develop the skills to aid you on your academic journey. As you move into more independent study and research, you'll be able to build on the areas covered in this introductory package.

In each of the sections you’ll find plenty of information on how to get started - covering areas such as finding information, referencing and writing your assignments. There are activities to help you to develop your skills, and suggestions on what to do to take them to the next level.

You’ll also find out where to go for more help and how to contact us. So, dive in and take a look around!
